Under the Nitrates Directive, a maximum of 170 kg N/ha of animal manure may be applied. This limits the use of products derived from animal manure. RENURE products could be applied above the limits of the Nitrates Directive, provided that the same provisions laid down in the Directive are followed as for nitrogenous artificial fertilisers.
The ammonium salt solutions (= RENURE product) produced at the end of the stripping-scrubbing process contains nitrogen (N) in a completely mineral form, just like synthetic fertilizers, and therefore have 100% active nitrogen and can be applied above the 170 k N/ha threshold for animal manure.
